Beaches
One of the most pleasurable experiences you can have in the Palm Beach area is by visiting one of it's acclaimed beaches. Many consider this picture-perfect natural resource to be the cornerstone of Palm Beach County. The area beaches travel along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and are known for their beautiful blue-green waters, cleanliness and refined sand. In Palm Beach proper, Palm Beach Municipal Beach is an underdeveloped beach that recently had it's pristine sand restored. The Clark Avenue Beach, just a few blocks from the Breakers Resort, is a beach also worth visiting. But keep in mind, parking at the Clark Avenue Beach is only available during the weekdays. To the North, in Singer Island, there's the John D. MacArthur Beach State Park that boasts two miles of oceanfront beach, droves of parking spaces and a minimal $4 per car fee. Nearby is the Ocean Reef Park and Beach, a mini version of the MacArthur facility. The Riviera Beach Municipal Park, offers free parking, shopping and restaurants along with it's exquisite beachfront. To the South, Lantana Municipal Beach, across the street from the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach, has a fully-stocked restaurant on-site. Nearby is Lake Worth Municipal Beach, a popular city resource with plenty of parking along with a pool and fishing pier. Right next door is R.G. Kreusler Park, that boasts a 450-foot guarded, palm tree lined beach, and is the only area park to offer beach wheelchairs. Just North of the Palm Beach Golf Course on South Ocean Boulevard, is Phipps Ocean Park, a pleasant beach with 300 metered parking spaces. All beaches listed on this page great Palm Beach County locations to take in the sun, surf and sand. For other terrific outdoor activity ideas, please visit our Outdoor Adventures Page. Except during inclement weather, there's never a bad time of the day to drop by the Palm Beach County coastline. Walking along the shore during a mild morning hour, lazing in a beach chair during a warm sunny afternoon or gazing out at a serene sunset are all popular round-the-clock beach activities. For
your safety, the State of Florida has implemented a Beach Warning Flag
System, that is in use at beaches throughout the Sunshine State.
The
colored flag displayed at the lifeguard stand will let you know what
the current surf condition is at that particular beach.
Please pay close attention to the color
of the flag, as it could possibly save your life and those around you.
Another detail to keep in mind when visiting one of the area's beaches listed below is their parking situation. If the listing says "Metered Parking" you should be prepared to feed a meter or pay a parking machine for the space you will occupy. Palm Beach Shores Municipal Beach, near the Riviera Beach Municipal Park, offers a parking permit program, which is well worth it if you plan to frequent that particular facility. Is today going to be a beach day? How about tomorrow or the weekend? Find out what the weather will be like for the days ahead by viewing the Palm Beach 7-Day Forecast on our Local News Page. Whether
it's a sunny, partly sunny or somewhat cloudy day, don't forget to put
on a sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin from the
pleasant but damaging and intense rays of the Florida sun. Clicking on each photo will link you to a map detailing the exact location of that beach. Please note that all the beaches listed are handicapped accessible and are open sunrise to sunset.
