Day
Trips from Palm Beach
The
Palm Beach area will
surely capture your attention as it has ours, and you might be so
content where you are, that you will not have the urge or desire
to venture out and see what lies beyond its county borders.
However, there
are
many appealing towns outside of the Palm Beaches that we think
you
would enjoy visiting, which would definitely give you the whole "South
Florida Experience".
Below
are what we
consider to be some great Florida Day Trips from Palm Beach.
They include: Captiva &
Sanibel Islands, Naples, Orlando, Miami and Melbourne. If you
have the time
and a
hankering to see some of the other great parts of South Florida, we
highly recommend
traveling to
the towns below. Trust us, they're all well
worth the trip.

Captiva
Island
Located past Sanibel Island
is Captiva island, a quaint barrier island
that has a calming, remote feel to it. Captiva
has appealing beaches and charming restaurants and warrants a
day trip
if you really want to feel like you got away, even if it's only
for a
few hours.
The
only way to reach Captiva Island is by taking the
Sanibel Causeway.
Once in Sanibel, head approximately 10 miles north on the scenic
Sanibel-Captiva Road.

Fort Myers & Fort
Myers Beach
Clear across the state
from Palm Beach is Fort Myers and Fort Myers
Beach. Fort Myers
Beach is comprised of Estero Island and
San Carlos Island. There is a
laid-back, anything goes feel to Fort Myers Beach similar
to that of
Key West, with its outgoing & friendly
inhabitants.
They also have a scenic fishing pier.
It
is about 145 miles from Palm Beach to Fort Myers Beach, via State Road
80. We
recommend bringing plenty of quarters for their beach parking meters.

Melbourne
You
certainly don't need a space shuttle to touch down on Florida's Space
Coast. The
town of Melbourne, Florida makes for a nice day trip from the
Palm
Beach area. Besides being home to the United States Space
Program, and NASA's Kennedy Space Center Complex, there
are other things going on in Melbourne. Attractions include
the
Brevard Art Museum, Henegar Center for the Arts, Liberty Bell Memorial
Museum and Funday Discovery Tours on Melbourne's beautiful coast.
It
is approximately 115 miles between Palm Beach and Melbourne via
I-95.

Miami
Beach
Just a
few towns south of Palm Beach is the magnificent Miami Beach. There
are so many things to explore in this culturally diverse metropolitan
area. For starters, there's the Miami Seaquarium, Bal Harbour
Shops, South Beach, Miami SkyLift, Vizcaya Estate &
Gardens,
Museum of
Contemporary Art, Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne.
Make your way to GoMiamiBeachFlorida.com
to learn more about this exciting and alluring South Florida
destination.
Getting
to Miami Beach from Palm Beach takes about two hours via
I-95. |

Naples
Naples is
by far one of the most pristine towns in Florida.
One can be instantly awed from just its shopping,
dining and
beaches. There
are many parts of Naples to explore. For dining, strolling
and shopping, we suggest:
Fifth Avenue and Third Street Downtown, as well as the
Waterside Shops, Venetian Village and Miromar Outlets. Visit GoNaplesFlorida.com
to find out the wonderful things this charming town has to
offer.
From Palm Beach, Naples is an easy 150 mile
trip via Florida's
Turnpike & Alligator Alley.

Orlando
For
kids and big kids alike, what's not to enjoy about Orlando Florida?
The
"Magic City" as it's known has seemingly unlimited entertainment
and attractions. Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Epcot Center, Universal
Orlando, Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, Silver Springs, WonderWorks,
Gatorland and CityWalk are just a sampling of the fun places to go.
Find out more at GoOrlandoFlorida.com.
From Palm
Beach, Orlando is a 3-hour, 171-mile ride.
Because
of the driving distance and large amount of attractions to see, you may
want to
spend the night or a few days there, but doing Orlando in a day from
Palm Beach is possible. |

Sanibel Island
Like Captiva,
Sanibel is a barrier island
and is easily accessible via the Sanibel Causeway. Most
of Sanibel's population is on the East end of the island, but
their
picturesque beaches and tasty restaurants are spread
throughout. Shopping,
shelling, watercraft sports and
dining are popular activities on Sanibel Island.
It is 154
miles from Palm Beach to Sanibel Island, when taking
State Road 80.
