Outdoor
Adventures Palm Beach County has a bundle of outdoor activities and attractions to explore, and we've put together a nice assortment of the most popular ones for you to enjoy. If
you'd like to spend time with many of
the creatures
that live among us in their natural habitat, we
suggest
visiting the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, John D. MacArthur
State Park
& Nature Center in North Palm Beach and
Loxahatchee National
Wildlife
Refuge in Boynton Beach.
When
it
comes to observing fascinating Florida foliage and vegetation,
two places stand out: the American Orchid Society in nearby
Delray Beach and Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in
Boca Raton.
For over 85 years, the American Orchid Society has been informing the public on research and conservation of orchids. The 3.5 acre facility offers orchids of all sizes, shapes, fragrances and color combinations. There's even a massive 4,000 foot greenhouse on premises you can walk through. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens will take you away and surround you in a world of Japanese arts and culture. Tea ceremonies, art exhibits, educational outreach programs and Japanese festivals take place on a regular basis on the 200-acre exotic grounds. All kinds of lions and other mammals can be seen at the Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee. A 4-mile drive-through preserve, 200 campsites, 6 stores, 3 food outlets are many of the facilities available at the Safari. Animals from all corners of the globe are displayed at the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park. More than 1,500 animals live at the 23-acre facility, from waterfowl to invertebrates to amphibians. In West Palm Beach on Forest Hill Boulevard at the Florida Turnpike, is the Okeeheelee County Park. The park has lots of amenities for the entire family to enjoy, including a BMX track, nature center, 27-hole public golf course, tennis & volleyball courts, fishing pier, boat slips, and picnic area with grills. They've even got a dog park for your pooch and equestrian center for your horse (if you just happen to have one). The area's beautiful
beaches are
of course another great way to spend quality time outdoors in Palm
Beach County.
Make
sure to head out to as
many of these outdoor attractions as possible while you're here.
You'll find them to be quite enjoyable and educational!
